Durban – Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates will meet in the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, 10 October, with kick-off scheduled for 18h00. The encounter brings together two of South African football’s biggest clubs with silverware on the line.
Tickets have already sold out, setting the scene for a packed stadium as supporters prepare for one of the most anticipated fixtures on the domestic calendar.
For Pirates, Saturday presents an opportunity to claim a fifth consecutive MTN8 title. Sundowns, meanwhile, will be looking to lift the trophy for the first time since 2021 and bring the Buccaneers’ winning run in the competition to an end.
The final also carries memories of their 2023 meeting at the same venue, when Pirates defeated Sundowns in a penalty shootout. That result adds another layer of anticipation to a contest between clubs whose supporters will expect nothing less than victory.
Cup finals often turn on a single moment: a missed opportunity, a defensive mistake or a decisive contribution from the bench. With the trophy within reach, composure in front of goal and concentration at the back could prove as valuable as possession.
The central question is whether Pirates can extend their remarkable hold on the competition or whether Sundowns will be the team to stop them. For supporters, the answer will come under the Durban lights on Saturday.
Away from the pitch, preparations are in place for the expected crowd. Stadium gates will open at 14h00, and ticket holders have been urged to arrive early to allow time for entry and security checks.
The PSL has advised supporters to download their tickets to their mobile phones before arriving. Screenshots and printed tickets will not be accepted, every attendee must have a valid ticket, and no tickets will be sold at the stadium. Supporters have also been warned against buying from unauthorised sellers.
Fans watching from home can follow the final live on SuperSport PSL, channel 202.
With a sold-out venue and two major clubs chasing the same prize, the stage is set for a compelling conclusion to the 2026 MTN8.
