The National Prosecuting Authority has reinstated senior prosecutor Mkhuseli Ntaba, who returned to work on after serving a suspension. The NPA confirmed the decision on, saying internal processes had been concluded.
Ntaba was suspended for failing to appear in court for the high-profile trial of Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni. The matter was postponed after the prosecutor did not attend proceedings, drawing public and judicial scrutiny. The NPA said the suspension was intended to allow for an internal investigation and disciplinary process.
In a brief statement, the NPA said Ntaba had resumed his duties following the outcome of the internal hearing. “The NPA has concluded its processes and Mr Ntaba has been reinstated with effect from. He has since reported back to work,” a spokesperson said. Details of any sanction or conditions attached to his return were not disclosed.
Sibanyoni, known as “Joe Ferrari” due to his collection of luxury cars, faces charges including racketeering, money laundering, and fraud. The case has seen multiple delays and is being monitored closely due to its complexity and public interest. Prosecutors said the trial would proceed with the NPA’s litigation team now at full capacity.
The NPA reiterated its commitment to accountability and professionalism among prosecutors. It said failure to attend court undermines the criminal justice system and that disciplinary measures would be applied where required. The authority did not indicate whether further action would be taken related to the postponement of the Sibanyoni matter.
