BRITS – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Madibeng Sub-Region rolled out its youth empowerment Drivers’ Licence Programme today at White House Hall in Brits, North West.
The programme, championed by EFF Madibeng Mayoral Candidate Cllr. Stan Komape, saw over 100 learners from Orbit TVET College being enrolled.
A company called Tripple O’s Driving Academy has been appointed by the EFF to facilitate the training and enrollment of the students, ensuring that learners receive proper lessons and are prepared for both learners and drivers licence tests.
Addressing the learners, Cllr. Komape said the initiative is about restoring dignity and opening doors for young people who are locked out of the economy.
“A driver’s licence is no longer a luxury, it is a basic requirement for employment. As the EFF in Madibeng, we are saying we cannot wait for government to empower our young people. We must do it ourselves. Today we are not just giving you a licence, we are giving you a tool to feed your families and to move your lives forward,” said Komape.
The hall was filled with young people who expressed excitement about the opportunity, with many saying they have been unable to afford driving lessons, which cost thousands of rands.
The EFF Madibeng Sub-Region (NW) leadership said this is just the beginning of a broader youth development plan for Madibeng, which includes skills development, job creation and access to education. The enrollment process continued after the formal engagement, with Tripple O’s Driving Academy capturing details of the learners who will start their lessons soon.
